2008 FALL HARVEST CELEBRATION

We held our first Fall Harvest Celebration on October 25, 2008. The event included a children's pumpkin judging contest, a pickling/canning contest, a mini farmer's market, live radio remotes, face painting, refreshments, and more. Below are a few pictures from the event, which fell of the final day of our Fall Harvest Sale.

WLFS employees Molly, Melissa, and Caitlin (left to right) pose with Tracy and Paul
from KIXX 100.5 FM.

Hand-crafted wares from Parris Hill Farm were among the locally made items for
sale at our mini Farmer's Market.

Local pro Ski Jumper and 2010 Olympic hopeful Nick Alexander was at the event
to raise awareness and support for professional ski jumping.

Chris proves his Patriots loyalty by having their logo painted (by Molly) on his cheek.

Green Mountain Pug Rescue was on hand to raise support and awareness for
their wonderful cause.

In-house face painting extraordinaire Molly puts the finishing touches on Jake's
black bat. Face painting was available to kids at no charge during the event.

Over 85 different pickling/canning recipes were entered into our competition. There
were six categories plus a Taster's Choice category, which was voted best overall.

Our five outside judges included (left to right) Paul Boucher, Richard Johnson,
Laurie Harding, Peter Mason, and Doug Birnie, who tasted and scored each entry.

The judges took time to sample (and many times re-sample) each canned item, basing
their scores on taste, texture/consistency, and color/appearance.

Over 40 children signed up to participate in our Junior Pumpkin Competition. Shown
here are several of the pumpkins entered to win one of the five categories.
