The Scoop on Phosphorus...
You may have noticed that some fertilizer content analyses have changed. What used to be 10-10-10 is now 10-4-10; what used to be 5-10-10 is now 5-2-10, etc.
The price of phosphorus, one of the main components of most fertilizers, has seen drastic increases since last year and is one of the reasons that fertilizer prices have been on the rise. Research has shown that plants don't actually need as much phosphorus as previously believed and, in order to keep fertilizer prices affordable, the phosphorus content has been reduced. Except in extreme cases, the reduction should NOT affect the health or production of your plants.
